Captain Cancer Fighter visits Missy Barrett’s school and he, his mom, and Relay for Life of Sevier County‘s Sophia Conerly speak about Relay for Life and Relay Recess during the school assembly. Right away, Missy makes up her mind to do something that will help raise awareness and money for Relay for Life.
Captain Cancer Fighter is real-life 9-year-old Jordan Pickens who lives in Sevierville. This photo was taken in January at the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce Coffee Talk event at the Civic Center.
We’ll be sharing updates leading up to the event. While you wait for the next announcement, please feel free to download these images and share them with your online and real friends and followers. Help us spread the word about this sure-to-be awesomely fun book launch party!

The Rose Glen Literary Festival 2017 was held on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Elyse Bruce and Thomas D. Taylor as well as the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce, the Sevier County Public Library System, Friends of the King Family Library, the Sevierville Convention Center, WVLT-TV, and Old Mill Pigeon River Pottery sponsored the event, now in its eighth year.
Thomas D. Taylor and Elyse Bruce were commissioned for the second year in a row to create a painting for the Rose Glen Literary Festival 2017 poster. We included two book covers in the painting. One was “Death’s Acre” by Dr. Bill Bass and Jon Jefferson. The second was “Titanic” by June Hall McCash. Dr. McCash was thrilled to see her book featured so prominently in the Taylor/Bruce painting.
